History is all around you in Bloomsbury, an area made famous in the early 20th century by the avant-garde artistic circle known as the 'Bloomsbury Group'.

And the hotel buildings themselves have a fascinating past. Originally built as three separate dwellings by master architect and builder James Burton in 1807, they have variously been owned by a Member of Parliament, a retired lieutenant-colonel, a theological tutor and the famous publisher Andrew Chatto (founder of Chatto & Windus).
